I am in His Hands 1
This painting is a reminder about the wonder of having been chosen and kept by God.

He chose us in the Messiah before the creation of the universe to be holy and blameless in his presence. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself through Jesus the Messiah, according to the pleasure of his will. Ephesians 1v4-5 ISV
I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father gave them to me, and he is greater than all others. No one can snatch them from his hands. John 10v28-29 CEV
Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5v7 ISV

I am listening

Jesus likened Himself to a shepherd and said: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me”. John 10v27. ISV
He furthered the illustration with: “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” John 10v4 NKJV
I believe that everyone has the capacity to hear from God. The keys are to want to hear His voice, to ask Him to speak and to spend time listening.
I have formed a habit of daily opening my mind to God, asking Him to speak to me, and then writing down the words that come to my mind. The results align with the Scriptures, are very relevant and are wonderfully inspiring.
"Fidelity"
Don’t let anyone or anything divide what God has joined together. Mark 10v9

I set out to create a visual reminder that marriage is essentially about oneness. About sharing life together. - That its value far outstrips all distracting alternatives. - That it is worth holding on to.
To Me, the core of a stable, prosperous society lies in having strong families who are deeply committed to one another.
Such families don’t just happen. They are dependent on marriages that are based on honesty, faithfulness, perseverance and unselfish love.
Such marriages don’t just happen. These beautiful qualities have a Christian base. God is the source. He is the Architect and Sustainer of marriages that really work. Our role is to cherish our marriage partners. To guard and protect our marriage covenants. Our future, our nation, depends on it.
True Beauty 1 Peter 3:3-4
Put yourself and/or people you love in the mirrors.

I imagined looking out from inside an ancient building. The row of fancy perfume bottles in the foreground are symbolic of beauty, but they also provided brand name spaces for the aroma of the Holy Spirit. The open hands represent the offer of Jesus to radiate these character traits from the core of each one of us as we claim them and yield to Him. The mirrors encourage us to relate to each other via the flavours of the Holy Spirit.
The original inspiration came as I compared Galations 5v22-23 with the emphasis on skin deep beauty that dominates much of our society.

"Put on the full armour of God" (Ephesians 6:11)
Put yourself and a loved one in the mirrors.

This is not just quaint spiritual language. As Christians, we are called to be soldiers who daily put on God’s armour. We need to do this, our spiritual lives depend on it! Christ, our King, has already won the victory. He rules with God the Father and is Lord over all. But in the here and now, we are called to be led by Him, extending His Kingdom (revealing His character and His wisdom) in and through our everyday lives and vocations. We are called to truceless warfare.
The mirrors enable you to identify with the armour and to encourage each other. May you stand your ground, complete in Christ and pray in every situation.

Path Of Life
My mother left this life in 2009, but one day we will be reunited before God’s throne.

You will show Me the path of life; In your presence is fulness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16v11 NKJV I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14v6 NKJV
This painting started with a visit to the Paradise Valley in New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The surrounding vastness and grandeur helped put life’s journey in perspective and encouraged me to reflect on human smallness and transience.
Back in my studio I saw additional possibilities. The river (like death) has to be crossed, but it is not the end. There is a path that leads beyond. It becomes an invitation that rises above the here and now. It goes through the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (see if you can find His hands) to the realms of Heaven and Eternity.
As For Me and my House (with Teddy) Joshua 24v15, Exodus 35v14

The Praying Hands medallion attached to the house and car key ring, is a reminder to constantly commit home and travel arrangements to the Lord for His keeping and leading.
The globe speaks of the commission to take the Gospel into all the World, also our responsibility to be good stewards of Earth’s resources. The other objects are symbols of family members and their interests.
Carved in small letters in the little picture frame are the words, My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Exodus 33v14 NKJV

This deliberately old-fashioned picture is all about rediscovering godly foundations. We can align our family with the treasure of the past in the way that Joshua, a faithful warrior leader did. As an old man, having brought Israel into the promised land, he challenged the whole nation to, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,” either the Lord or the pagan gods of surrounding society. Then he said, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24v15 NKJV
Family Ties
As I have loved you, you also should love one another. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13v34,35 ISV

The painting began with the idea of Mum and Dad united behind junior, giving quality time to healthy, child centred activities. As it neared completion, my wife pointed out that it could just as easily be sons and daughters living in harmony and enjoying each other. Interpret it as you choose.
In the background, but standing tallest of all, is the Children’s Bible. It certainly proved its worth with our family. Our children looked at the pictures, listened, questioned. The book wore out, lost pages and lost its cover. - But the old-fashioned values sank in.
Gift of God
Teach your children right from wrong, and when they are grown they will still do right. Proverbs 22v6 CEV

Our hearts are softened with delight and a sense of wonder, at the uniqueness and worth that comes with the arrival of a new baby.
The privilege of parenthood brings with it the awesome responsibility of training based on right principles. That’s why the freshly unwrapped little booties stand on an open Bible. God offers every parent His wisdom, if they ask for it.
Originally, I was going to call this painting, ‘Walking Straight,’ because the little ones who depend on us will follow in our footsteps and may one day walk in our shoes
